The cruelty and the twisted views of “handling” sexual assaults and abuses by these self proclaimed religious leaders are so grotesque and soul crushing. The continual cost of survivors to try to find accountability and to try to warn others, to attempt to change a system that rebuts changes for basic human decency while constantly decrying “leftist agenda” against the very things God Himself requires as to treatment of others. It’s the largest mind game (as a nice word). Abuse is never in Gods above reproach mandates and He never requires these “men” to bulldoze others to “protect the church” or to squash the brokenhearted and harmed in order to elevate an abuser for further ministry.

But they and all of their followers refuse to see such basic facts, refuse to see the planks that have become permanent in their eyes. Evil does that, they become it.

I’ve been so sick over this “error” and spent that weekend of this happening with a migraine and remembering all of the evil and the damage this man and those alongside him who did nothing for all of these decades to so many who just wanted to protect others by reporting their abuses, we all have paid such high prices for doing what is actually right. They are beloved and we are run over again and again. Often feels hopeless

I’m thankful you posted this story

That clip is disgusting, horrifying, and makes me want to vomit. What in the world?? Why are they laughing? What a nasty old man.

“Men in power protect men in power.”

—- nailed it.

Those stuffed animals! I would be terrified being in that room, even if I was there on a simple errand like bringing the men cups of coffee, let alone being there to report sexual assault!

The room is designed to intimidate victims, and to elevate Patterson as the alpha male crowing and boasting in the chicken yard - to make it clear to all the other males that he is head honcho.

Patterson and his henchmen will continue filling up their cups of wrath which God will pour out on them on the Day of Judgement.

Exactly. The room is designed "to elevate Patterson as the alpha male." And kinda disgustingly designed.

Christa, can you please give a direct link to the photo by Blake White? I’m trying to get a better look at the photo.

It looks to me like there are seven heads of seven stuffed animals, and a total of ten horns. That might be an intentional allusion to Revelation 13:1. Evildoers hide in plain sight their allegiance to the devil. Patterson could have deliberately chosen this array of animals to signal to those who can read that he is aligned with the beast that arises out of the sea.

I took it from the Baptist News Global article that I linked in the second paragraph. It's here: https://baptistnews.com/article/texas-court-makes-public-10000-pages-of-sealed-documents-in-sexual-abuse-case/

Thanks Christa. That link allows me to see the photo better. It definitely shows seven heads and ten horns in Patterson’s office.
